The atmosphere at Lazio's home ground was decidedly gloomy during the weekend fixture. At least one man kept smiling throughout. Matteo Cancellieri was not even supposed to remain with Lazio this year. He spent the previous campaign at Parma as a loanee and, early this summer, his owning club were pushing for him to extend his stay for another season. The signing restriction forced a rethink. Cancellieri arrived initially when Sarri was last in charge, at that time a 20-year-old alumnus of Verona's academy. He made 20 matches in the league in Lazio colors in the 2022-23 season, the vast majority of those coming off the bench. Uncovering His Natural Fit
Maybe Sarri was continuing to attempt to determine the nature of Cancellieri's abilities.
